The Pereira family's coffee farming estate was founded in 1971. After inheriting the farm from their parents, sisters Maria Valéria and Maria Rogéria Pereira renamed it "Irmãs Pereira"- The Pereira Sisters. The Irmãs Pereira Farm is perched in the mountains of the Carmo de Minas municipality, a region known throughout the world for its coffee excellence. With fertile soils, high altitudes, and ample sunlight, the farm is particularly ideal for specialty grade coffee production. The Irmãs Pereira Farm uses a pulped natural method of coffee processing. This means that water is used to remove a portion of the coffee cherry from the seed, after which the semi-pulped coffee is set out to dry in the sun. With this method, the farm is able to highlight the sweetness of their coffees!
Maria Rogéria said in an interview that “our greatest pride is our union as sisters and our main challenge is to keep our pioneering spirit up to date." The Irmãs Pereira Farm has done just that. With the farm's dedication to quality and their use of advanced agronomic techniques, Irmãs Pereira has received a number of awards for their coffees, such as Cup Of Excellence from the Brazil Specialty Coffee Association.
